Career Coaching

SPG supports individuals who want to meet specific career objectives. Meeting these objectives may be possible in their current organization. Or, they may choose to move on to another organization that provides a better “fit.”

Career coaching includes clarification of values and goals and assessment of knowledge, skills and abilities. During the process, clients examine current and potential career opportunities and identify “best fit” choices.

If the “best fit” exists in the client’s current organization, the coaching process helps to identify what the client needs to do to position themselves for success. This may include acquiring new skills, increasing exposure or visibility, taking on new roles or responsibilities or expanding their professional network. If the “best fit” exists elsewhere, through the coaching process, clients take productive, focused action by generating and weighing alternatives; clarifying target industries, organizations and positions; fine-tuning resumes and interview skills; negotiating job offers; and transitioning successfully.

In our coaching work, we often incorporate the following.
identifying personal purpose, vision or leadership brand
principles of dialogue
inventories as appropriate, data (quantitative and qualitative) gathered from the client and others
role-playing conversations
focused reflection
readings
tree of beliefs
measurement tools (action plans, field assignments, observation cards, mini-surveys)
